There are multiple versions of nightly snapshot tarballs:

Current stable series

v1.2 series (current stable): These snapshots are from the 1.2 branch and reflect the latest progression in the stable 1.2.x series. This tree typically only receives minor bug fixes; most effort is concentrated on the trunk and v1.3 trees right now.

Current development

v1.3 series (prerelease): These snapshots are from the 1.3 branch and reflect the latest progression in the upcoming 1.3.x series. The emphasis of this tree is on bug fixing and working towards the v1.3 release.
Trunk (development head): These snapshots are from the Subversion trunk and reflect the current head of develpoment. The usual disclaimers about the state of development code apply.

Older stable series (deprecated; no longer in development)

v1.1 series (previous stable): These snapshots are from the 1.1 branch and reflect the latest progression in the stable 1.1.x series.
v1.0 series (older stable): These snapshots are from the 1.0 branch and reflect the latest progression in the older-but-still-stable 1.0.x series.
